The former trader gained international acclaim with his best-selling books Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in the Markets and in Life and The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable. His writings examine uncertainty and errors in human knowledge and explain how to deal with unpredictability. Taleb is currently a professor of Risk Engineering at New York University’s Polytechnic Institute. His latest book The Bed of Procrustes: Philosophical and Practical Aphorisms goes on sale Nov. 30.
